Most local outdoor enthusiasts are all too familiar with Hingham's iconic Wompatuck State Park. However, I bet few have ventured to the adjoining Whitney and Thayer Woods. Comparatively tame to Wompy's rock gardens and exposed roots, this off-road trail system offers incredibly diverse terrain. You'll pass through farm land, gardens, cedar forests, and gravel trails. A great adventure on foot or on a mountain bike. Somewhat technical at times, this would be alternative to Wompatuck for a novice or hardtail biker. I only snapped few photos upon riding in the area, but hopefully you'll find them somewhat inspiring.
