So I'm up to my old tricks again--banging around the woods and finding tons of great trails. Today's adventures took me around Middleboro where I passed through many great locales for tree peeping. Among the more notable places were Pratt Farm, Rocky Gutter, Rock Village, and some random expanse of double-track. I only rode about 16 miles, however, it took me nearly three hours because of all the trail exploration. All in all a great day for riding. Here are some of pictures I snapped along the way.
Like many South Eastern Massachusetts communities, Middleboro once boasted a rich vacation and outdoors destination for urban tourists. The remnants have been put to good use.
The above structure was evidently part of this pond's recreation facilities. From the looks of the dock and the other buildings, it appears to have once been a canoe rental facility.
The awesome people at Wildlands Trust appear to be in the process of making this trail more widely accessible. Can you guess why it's called Rock Village?
Oh! That's why it's called Rock Village.
The good citizens of Middleboro enjoy practicing the ancient crafts of tribal society.
