Boston Bicycle Film Festival 2011

Last weekend I had the great opportunity to attend the Seventh Annual Boston Bicycle Film Festival. In addition to watching many great films, I was able to sample some delicious food from Redbones

Most of the festival's films centered around bicycle advocacy. I guess this was something I should have expected from a film festival at the Brattle Theater. Massbike's presence at the event also suggested that these films were about the big picture and the future of cycling in the Bay State. My favorite film was probably Kris Carter's Between the Curbs. This film accurately depicted the dangers of cycling in urban areas. It also demonstrated the complex sociology behind urban cycling. One of the better points in the film described how cycling in cities is risky, yet, that risk is what attracts many urban cyclists, yet causes problems for transportation and traffic.  I had a great time overall. It was nice to see such a large turnout too. From where I sat in the balcony, it looked like standing room only.
