A few weeks ago, I started venturing into the woods of West Bridgewater. I had seen some maps and read about some trails in an area referred to as West Bridgewater State Forest. After riding there and doing some research, I found that it is actually part of a broader Wildlife Management Area. Basically, it's a large tract of woods and trails. While often muddy and wet, it seems to offer some good biking, hiking, and walking.
Most of the trails are pretty smooth double-track. However, be sure to check for ticks since many of the trails are overgrown with tall grass. The trails are interesting but short and often dump out into surrounding neighborhoods and yards. I think if I had discovered the trail in late October, my opinion would be different. June probably wasn't the best time to explore the area--many bugs and lots of mud. Also, lookout for washouts!
