Brockton often gets a bad rep, especially when it comes to green space. However, recent Spring strolls have brought me to D.W. Field Park. The product of a bygone era of philanthropy, this park offers some great car free walking/hiking/rollerblading. While it may not be a destination spot for that long trek or journey, it's still a decent place to visit and enjoy.
The main roads circumnavigating the park are mostly car free. I accessed the park via the Oak Street entrance and parked in the lot next to golf course. From here, you can walk around the two ponds that form the northern section of the park. To the south is another parking lot which goes around another pond. This pond offers fewer views and seems a bit crowded by the surround buildings.
Both sections are fun to check out on bike, foot, or blade. I will hopefully have some pictures up sooner than later.
