Assawompset Pond Complex (Middleboro-Lakeville, MA)

It was take two this past weekend at APC. I completed an epic twenty-four mile cross country ride through Middleboro and into Lakeville around two of the major lakes. Probably the best trails included Betty's Neck in Lakeville. Much like Pratt Farm in Middleboro, this hidden gem is a bit small to bring in a large crowd. However, even after Sandy, the trails were mostly clear. According to local lore, the area used to be a summer place for natives. It's easy to see why. It offers some great vistas of the lake and doesn't get terribly muddy. The trails are also clearly marked. Even in summer, this area doesn't get a ton of bugs. Definitely worth checking out. Here are some other pictures from the ride.

Even something for the religious folk.

Even after Sandy, not all leaves dropped.

Roots and such.

The shores of time.

Must've been a nice house!

Hmm...great question! If memory serves me correctly, it might be located on the east side of Great Quittacas Pond.

There are two chimneys in the woods on the eastern shore (middleboro side) of pocksha pond. I've discovered them on my hiking journeys down the fire roads. If you are on marion road heading north, before you get to walnut street there will be many entrances, try a few.
